Would you seriously 'invest' for one of these

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180799390277&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:GB:1123

I have no connection with this item, I was just shocked :stalks: to see that one offer has already been made. Would the gold plating on the tonearm capsule the music better? I am sure there must be the same thinking behind this as McLaren F1 designers had when the whole engine compartment was lined with pure gold ;).

Gold foil is apparently a very efficient reflector of heat, hence its use in the F1.
According to Wiki 16g was used in each car.

So a fair bit more justified than the blatant bling of the SME 3012 then ;)

Ah, the 3012: the best arm SME has ever made, and will likely ever make......

For some blatant bling, it actually doesn't look too bad!

That's good to know, thanks. Now I know what I am going to use inside my house instead of rock wool, sheep's wool, hemp etc. I will have the whole house gold plated inside :eyebrows:

Not a bad idea if you fancy the bordello look :eyebrows:
I imagine that it would play havoc with wireless internet and mobile signals too :)

I thought I had something ground breaking here, but it has been done before

It's commonly known as a Faraday Cage ;)

Just buy a standard one, have it media blasted and hand polished then gold plated. the guy who does the iphones would likely do it for a couple of hundred notes.

Probably not today though, due to SOPA and PIPA.

Yes, today.
Just before I first posted in this thread.
And yes, I have seen the screen blackout, followed the links etc.
A screen refresh brought me the page I was looking for :)

I'm not sure I'm qualified to have a view as you all know I have no taste anyway, but the gold SME and 4 arm job are both gorgeous!:)
