New power bits and pieces

Just had my:

Fully Silver Plated Mains Extension Block (8 gang, couple of extra meters length)

delivered. Made a complete mess of my room sticking in the new gold and silver fuses, like a kid at Christams :eek:

So none of it's run in yet (of course). The in-line filter has gone to my PC (I'll be ordering a larger one for the amp as well).

Initial impressions are very positive, more detail to everything. It sounds like each instrument in a recording has more room to breath and the clarity is razor sharp, I'm very impressed with the products and once again David's customer service :cool:

A relatively inexpensive upgrade for a good result.

I wouldn't bother with a filter for your amp Martin ;) Most of the time an amp will sound better with the lowest impedance supply, IE straight in the wall. Filters tend to add a bit too much impedance into the equation unless you go silly & purchase a filter that is rated say 20 times the peak current draw (or more) of the amp in question.

You can try one, but I think you'll get the best results with all your front end filtered & any kit that uses switch mode power supplies via a seperate filter & with the amp straight in the wall.

Yes, 99.99% of PCs that I have ever come accross use an SMPS. I'm sure that as you already have the PC filtered (from what you were saying) that will stop it feeding a good load of crud to your hifi kit via the mains....
