Guys,

Could you tell me if this thrust pad looks worn or would you say that this is normal wear and tear?

Looks very different to a 401 thrust pad, which is convex in shape.

Would you have a side view picture? Also a picture from the bottom of the spindle would be good.

Yeah, sorry Andy but that is a crap photo! ;)

Juha - I would be surprised if it is concave - I suspect just the picture, or very badly worn! ;) I believe fundamentally the 401 bearing is the same.

301 and very early 401 thrust pads are flat. Once stocks were used up, Garrard changed the flat thrust pad to the commonly known convex shape. On the early 401 using the flat thrust pad, there was also a small spacer used to raise the thrust .
