Sorry for starting another thread guys:lol:

A few good people have suggested that I try the Quad 303 poweramp with my 11 ohm Rogers LS3/5a speakers. I also have Spendor S3/5R speakers, and I'm aware a few people on here hate them. You harsh bastards;)

I've never heard a Quad 303, when set up correctly how does this amp perform?
And have also been told this Quad poweramp works well with passive preamps.

If I do go for the 303, is it possiable to have the input socket changed for RCA? This wouldn't interfere with the sound?

Hi Shane,
The 303 can be a stunning and versatile power amp if correctly fettled.
They can be had for very reasonable price on eBay but I would
Strongly suggest if in original nick likely to need bringing up to current
spec (including changing for RCA sockets and decent mains socket)
NetAudio can supply necessary bits (http://www.net-audio.co.uk/index.html). I bought a fully upgraded 303 SE from them along with fully upgraded 33 and the combination is superb - holds its head with my Crofts.
DADA electronics also supply upgrades and the like.
For the relatively small outlay you can get a very capable amp that will drive your speakers

Thanks for the link. I don't want to go crazy on the mods. Having the full NET Audio mods, does it take away that original Quad sound?

What is this Phase Inverting thing with the 303?

To get round that simply connect both speakers the wrong way round :eyebrows: IE positive to negative & vice versa ;) That's if using a passive pre amp or one that doesn't invert like the 33.
