Amazon Kindle Fire

Just been reading reviews on this, it looks great, especially at the launch price in the States of $199, unfortunately I bet that translates to the same in sterling, but I'm wondering if anyone knows where to buy one in the UK?

Dont think they are available in the UK yet.

Apparently they run on Android and have already been jailbroken so normal apps can be installed so you can use it for other stuff such as a large touch screen wifi remote control for your streamer etc.:eyebrows:

They are not available yet in the UK, but you will be paying the same in pounds as you do in dollars I suspect. As an example the new £89.00 Kindle is only $79.00 in the US.

It will not be like the normal Kindle however, short battery life and not ideal to read for long periods due to being backlit. However, as an alternative to an iPad it will be cheaper, but maybe not as good.


Amazon will release the Kindle Fire over here in the UK during January 2012, it has been claimed.

The Android-based Fire went on sale in the US on 15 November for $199 (£127), a price point that has got a lot of folk in the UK eager to get their mitts on one.

They won't get it before Christmas, a mole claiming to be close to the planned launch, told Know Your Mobile, but the 7in tablet will be arriving early next year.

Heck, it might even be priced as cheaply here as it is in the States - £152 when you add VAT - but don't hold your breath.

You've given an unfair comparison as the $79 is for an ad sponsored Kindle, it is $109 for the version we get.

$109 =£70.66 ex VAT (xe.com)
which gives £84.79 approx

so hardly the rip off (for a change)
