Hi all,
This is the front and back of a Wharfedale Diamond II crossover.

I guess what i'm looking for is a little more understanding of what does what and why.
Red and black feed the mid/bass unit, blue and yellow feed the treble. I've marked plus and minus for the input form the speaker terminals.
To the untrained eye (me!) it looks like there is a big capacitor in series with the mid bass unit (why?) and a resistor (level match?) and small cap (high pass?) in series with the treble and also an inductor in parallel (? not sure ? roll off the low end of the tweeter?) with the treble?
The speaker states the crossover point is 5000hz.
I'm interested as I was thinking of modifying them as a first 'journey' in to speaker understanding, perhaps fitting better quality & newer crossover components and in the long run building my own little speakers.
I'd also read an article by Russ Andrews(!?) about replacing the crossover with a single capacitor and maybe resistor, but I admit to being rather blind technically to the consequences of this...
