For various reasons, I can't put in-ear headphones into my ears so, at the moment, I use the JayBird Sportsband bluetooth headphones with my Cowon MP3 player. However, these headphones become very uncomfortable really quite quickly so I want to change them for a comfortable over-ear type which does bluetooth. My budgets have a habit of disappearing rather rapidly when the *right* equipment manifests (!) but I was thinking of around £300 - £400. Any recommendations, please? I don't know whether the Sennheiser MM550 would suit?

Yes, very interesting. Thank you. I admired the optimism of the Sennheiser rep who seemed to think that dragging a Kleer transmitter along might be a workable way of listening to an mp3 player on an underground train!

Anthony, I realise your budget is higher, but I'd recommend the Sennheiser pxc 310 bt (£280ish off amazon). I've had a pair for about a year.

They are as small as I imagine you can get without being terribly compromised. They fold and fit into the inside pocket of my suit jacket.
Bluetooth is incredibly good and works almost flawlessly. Battery life is about 8 hours and they charge from a usb cable on your computer pretty quickly.
Sound is very good, but lacks deep bass. Sound reduction is reasonably effective.

I always fret about noise spillage (am I the only one!?) but am reassured that with volume set to 75% they are inaudible to fellow commuters.

I have them hooked up to my android phone, which responds to the headphone controls and interrupts music if I have a call.

Thank you Simon. I'll look them up. I need them to be over-ear rather than on ear - in haste...

Ah yes, so you do, my mistake. Good luck.

I don't know why but my ears get sore with on-ear phones. This may be because I've never had very good ones, or ones that are too tight. Still, what you say about size is tempting. There comes a point on your journey where you have to take them off and then *do* something with them!
