Electricity
It has its own dedicated mains circuit with a socket for each speaker, one for the pre amp and one for the linn majik. The TV, blu-ray, wii and mini pc (hidden behind the tv) are fed by a Belkin Pure AV mains conditioner (bottom left of stand)
All the mains cables are Mark Grant dsp2.5 cables apart from the bluray which is a dsp1.0

Audio Sources
The linn majik dsi (top right of the rack) is the hub of the system, it is connected by LAN to the mini PC (hidden behind the tv) for streaming files up to 24/192. The blu-ray player is connected into one of its digital coax inputs for playing cds as well as for the sound from dvds/blurays.
The mini pc is also connected to it via a usb external soundcard and coax into one of its digital inputs for playing the sound from spotify etc (you can see the soundcard on top of the majik, its the white thing on the left)
The current turntable is the new Pioneer P600x with a phono pre amp made by Paul Lange the turntable is as standard and is currently sporting a my Phillips gp412ii cart

Video sources
The Sony BDS550 and mini pc are both connected to the Panasonic TH37PX80 tv via HDMI
We also have a wii

Amps and speakers
My Pre-amp AOS classic series Tube distinctions grounded grid pre ...
The Speakers are fully active Adam Tensor Epsilons tuned slightly to my tastes and the room by adjusting the top and bottom end down slightly

Cables
All interconnects both digital and analogue are Mark Grant G1000HD's and as i said the mains cables are also Mark Grant

The rack is a Ikea 'Lack' tv stand that cost £40 :)
The turntable stand is a old wooden box

Does it sound better now than it did before then?

The Vinyl Adventure

I still have one Darren!
But no, not really, to much fuss in te end for me ... To much temptation for upgrades!
The townshend and this pioneer both sound better to me than the techie did... But that is very possibly a psychological thing down to me not thinking about the god damn upgrade path!
That and the fact that nowadays I think I have a much much better phono stage!

The Vinyl Adventure

Fisrt refusal ... You can have them now for £4000 if you want them ;)

Does it sound better now than it did before then?

Different ... Much more lively!
I've tweaked down the highs and lows on the eq on the speakers to compensate a little ... I'm happy with how it sounds!

Glockenspiel... there are two 4 pieces of music I know of that include a glockenspiel.

Love Cats by the Cure, and
Tubular Bells, TB II, and TB III.

I don't think the video is Love Cats, so could it be something by Mike Oldfield. I'm guessing TB III.

The Vinyl Adventure
29-12-2011, 21:43
Not yet ... I'm going to build a a shelf for the tt I think ...
Maybe some heavy bigger speaker stands ... Dunno, taking it as it comes a bit really :)

How's your second brewing?

All good so far Hamish, thanks - wife making the most of it of course and getting me to run round doing everything for her. Come to think of it, no change there! :eyebrows:

Must admit I will be very protective over my Spendors when #2 arrives and is mobile - probably get some small bookshelf speakers to have for general background music and then stick the SP1s in the cupboard and only bring them out for personal listening sessions... I suspect more headphone listening will be in order too. Of course I wouldn't change it for the world. :)

Hope everything is going well with Connie and you are loving being a Dad - it only gets better, I can assure you. :)

I couldn't get mine to sit down, she was sanding the fireplace surround and painting walls 7 hours before she went into labour ... Nutter!!

Glad all is going well matey! When's due date?

I have to admit, I'm enjoying it a lot more now Connie does things ... It's daft to say realy, but tiny baby's aren't awfully interesting after a point ... There is the 'oooo she's mine' stuff and that is lovely of course, but now I can make her giggle at me by pulling silly faces at her and stuff she's a lot more fun! :)

June - so still a bit of freedom!

Totally with you on the baby thing (think most blokes are) - the cooing and ooing is ok to start with, but it gets a lot more interesting when they start doing things - and "fun" when you have to start fishing things out of your bass ports and forget to check the volume when you turn on your amp, and notice it is at maximum just as you are about to hit Play... (Make the most of her being in one place and knowing she will be where you left her!)

Was going to update this with a picture of the turntable ... But I have actually gone full circle and am now using the one in the photos again ...
I think my hifi has now found its final config!
