View Full Version : Hello from Brighton...
Hi Folks,
Just joined, I'm Simon and live in Brighton. Been into Hi Fi for a few years now and am going back in time with very interesting results :)...using Klipsch Belles with new bigger mid sqwaukers , tweeters and crossovers-love them. Amps are Leak S20 with (soon to be one of Glenns Pre's (depends what I can afford) front end is less retro but can't find a better deck for the money-WT Super. (second hand):)
Look forward to it!....
...oh I work in conservation (painting) so should be at home here....heading straight to the DIY section as that Westminster build is something else huh.
Want to know what driver and crossover options that can be used in these-any ideas? I was thinking hpd385A but that was only through google search so thought i would ask the expert!
Hi Simon - welcome to AoS
I'm sure someone will be along to answer your question shortly.
Hope you enjoy it here.

Hi Simon, welcome to AoS from me as well :) As regards the Westminsters I should imagine that any low Qts Tannoy 15" should be pretty much compatable ;) Admittedly this is a guess, but an educated one :eyebrows:
All the best & I hope you enjoy your stay here
Cheers Keith,
Thanks for the welcome! Been going through the Serbian plans and drawing up the pdf's changing the materials to 18 and 25" marine ply...taken 2 days so far and still not done! There are a few discrepencies in there so a worth while job.
part w seems to have been treated differently in both builds. I think it should join the back of the speaker which is what I think Dave(?) did from studying the photos.
Any help on cross overs and Drive units would be most welcome-i know they are not cheap.
Hey Cheers Mark,
From your educated advice to my un educated question-what is Qts?
Appreciate your warm welcome:)

The driver total Q, it's down to the Thiele / Small parameters (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thiele/Small) of the driver. The Monitor golds have a Qts of about 0.2 if I remember right, so if you look up the specs of the HPD online & Qts is below 0.3 or even closer to 0.2 they should be compatable :)

Ta Mark looks like they would work at 0.2 i have posted in the general hi fi area to see whether a wider audience may provide further options.
I am keen to find the best choice of driver, without using silvers:)
