From my little list that I sent to Santa, I received a couple of Music On Vinyl 180gm issues - Eve by the Alan Parsons Project, and Best Of Sade.:)

Anyone else get some music or equipment related goodies?

A small package of resistors and capacitors from a very puzzled son. He has no idea what they are or why they make me happy, but he's glad that they do.

"In The Region of the Summer Stars" by The Enid. remastered from the original master tapes (at last) in 2010 after years of legal tie-ups (I believe).

Absolutely amazing music, quite beautiful in parts and a disconcertingly wide soundstage the original LP's just don't do properly (using the Crown "Panorama" control to narrow it down makes the CD sound like the LP's...). Whatever, there's instruments playing and things going on in the mix that's all but inaudible on the original pressings and I love it to bits :)

I got some Hendrix, Pink Floyd, and Judas priest on Vinyl. And I decided that I would be buying myself a new cartridge or SUT as funds and research into the products permit

The only prezzies I got were those I bought myself:

Stevie Ray Vaughan "Can't Stand The Weather" (Music On Vinyl 2 x 180g LP)
King Crimson "In the Court of the Crimson King" & "In The Wake of Poseidon" (both 200g LPs)
Kate Bush "50 Words For Snow" (2 x 180g LP)

but I 'opened' them all well before Christmas anyway :eyebrows:

I upgraded my speakers (same "wideband" and tweeter); new baffle and 4 bass drivers: http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=3970&page=5

The more I listen, the more totally bowled over I am.

How are you finding the Sade album - has it been taken from the analog masters? The original LP's were very good indeed.

I'm sure my system will sound fantastic now - socks without holes, T-shirts without grease stains and extra deodorant will all help, I'm sure!

Am listening to this right now as it happens - and very nice it sounds too! :):)

Don't know which masters were used, though. At some point I'll do a comparison with the original CD issues. However, it's sounding very "organic", if you know what I mean, and suitably "smooth" (). When needed there's plenty of kick and depth to bass and drums. Very good pressing too.

I'll have to ask the Easter Bunny if he'll deliver before Scalford or it'll be the 1210 going instead. Or the Thorens, or the Luxman.

No! I didn't get jack crap!!! :steam: My family outright refuses to buy me any records or gear. Something about not knowing what I have or don't have...... Where's the indignant smilie when you need it? Maybe, they've got a point. ;)

Yup - all the stuff was bought myself, Mrs G just gives me a quizzical look when I suggest things like 'oh I'd love a new bearing for my Tecchy'.

So...as they were bought in December I consider them Christmas pressies to me:

1x SL1210 M3D
1x Vantage Audio Bearing
1x set of VA feet
1x TimeStep HE psu
1x Audiophile mains block from MCRU
1x No.14 mains lead " "

I've not done too badly I guess. :)
