Hi Folks,

My step son's mate is looking for an entry level cinema amp. Any suggestions?

He's also looking for floorstanders. Again, any suggestions?

He doesn't have a lot of cash.

I've got a Yamaha 495a cinema amp that I could let go cheap. Also got Mission 773e, 77c and 77ds that were going on ebay in the new year if he's interested.

I could do the lot for £200.

Cheers Jon, yes, I suggested the same thing, but thought I'd ask about what's decent at entry level as I don't know much about cinema stuff.

Mark, is that a cinema amp? Do you have any specs on it please?

I'd have suggested some older 5.1 cinema amp a while ago & let the DVD/BD player decode the audio ;) But having heard the Oppo BD95 with it's full conversion of DTS-MA & Dolby True HD I'm not so sure :eyebrows:

I was still happy with what the older kit did & if you are looking at a few hundred pounds then you won't do a lot better... Unless you are lucky & find an amp that'll decode it but won't do 3D ;) That's a distinct possibility as some people just gotta have all the bells & whistles :eyebrows:

I'd suggest patience, ebay & a good look at reviews of promissing equipment :)

There are always bargains to be had if you take your time ;)

Cheers Mark, but he's just a young lad and doesn't have a lot of money to spend. Mark's offer looks like a bit of a bargain I think.

I'll be back at home on Wednesday. I'll send you some details of the amp then. It's a basic home cinema amp with Dolby and DTS 5.1. It comes with a very basic learny remote. It worked a treat with the Mission speakers. I just don't have room for everything anymore.
If he wants hdmi switching or 7.1 then this isn't the amp.

I will be ebaying a Denon AVR-1907 shortly.
Very powerful, does everything that you would normally need - with the exception that it is not HDMI.
Very good condition, original box, complete with manual, remote, set up mic,+ connecting cables for 3 items.
£85 + P&P?

Also have a Kef sub which has had the Kef 'fix' to sort out the problem they had.

It's all boxed. So shipping will be okay. I'll be in touch with some photos and more details.
