What are your favorite 6922 valves?

I'm in the market for new and/or "new to me" 6922 valves for my phono pre. I'm not a NOS only person and will consider new production. For instance, I haven't tried the new Gold Lion's and would consider them if someone else had good experiences with them. However, if they're just a glorified EH 6922, I'll pass. I don't want to go with the 61NP, 6DJ8 or other common substitutions.

I remember Sovtek 6922s worked well in my Croft SIP preamp.

Out of interest whats the problem with 6DJ8? Or for that matter E88CC or ECC88. 6n1p, fair enough its a different valve.

The 6DJ8 and the ECC88 are the same tube as I understand it, just different names for different regions. I'm overly cautious about them and like to play it safe where microphonics are concerned since that kind of thing drives me up a wall.

The E88CC, as I understand it, is the same tube as the 6922. As such, that is fair game.

7DJ8/PCC88's with the 7V heater is a no go.

I'd go for CV2492/CV2493's if the price was reasonable...

As I remember it, the ECC88s were very microphonic in my Croft (MC stage). The 6922s sounded a lot cleaner and, I believe, are more linear in this application. It was a long time ago now.

Guess it depends on what you call a reasonable price.

Have a look on the Rock Grotto site for some more inspiration. I bought a pair of 6H23P (I think it was) for the ton-up X10-D and they sound fine and don't colour the sound in this application to any noticeable degree. He now has some mil-spec ones too, which may be even better - I haven't tried them but trust his judgement..

I have 6H23P in a phono stage, they sound as good or better that all of my Mullarsd Sovtek, Tesla and other pricey valves.
