What other speakers apart from harbeth go well with Croft amps?

Practically anything your budget will allow. Glenn, himself, uses Harbeth and stacked ESL 57's.

i used my croft gci integrated with proac tablette 2000 signatures and audio note an-k/l's, and it sounded sublime with both. however, the rega ela 2000 was a nightmare on the amp's end, in spite it sounding amazing with almost all the other amps i connected it to the meracus intrare and audio innovations s400 and 500, among others, included. go figure...

Ela's don't have any deep bass as I understand the method of loading in all the versions makes the bass go out of phase below around 80Hz I understand. Perfect for vinyl using Rega cartridges, but not for much else IMO. The 2000 model looked better though, but Jura's could easily out-perform them if properly set up (did it many times and sold loads of clamshell Mira-Jura combinationsin my old times, so not just an opinion).. All a long time ago now...

As long as the speakers aren't terribly inefficient, with silly loads and complex crossovers, the Croft should be fine. look up the HFN test report for more info...

Glenn uses stacked ESL57's with all his amps. Loads don't get much more difficult than that.

I understand that one reason for the hybrid designs, as well as saving hugely on costs of now expensive big transformers, was to make the amp more "universal." Since stacked Quad 57's in parallel offer 1 ohm at very high frequencies (I think), that's a pretty tough load for amy amp to handle safely.

Sorry to bang on, but I don't think you need to worry too much about speaker choice. Harbeths and other "BBC derived" favourites are purely personal preference (although Spendor SP1's and the later and servicable "S" series are cheap enough now). Unkown to me is how the likes of Ruark and Monitor Audio would respond, since my memories of them generically is of a tight-a*sed kind of presentation.

My Vandersteen speakers seem to work well with Croft gear.
