The Creek OBH11 does the job for me, second hand one would be sub £100 although new it's about £125.

Has anyone tried the Audiolab M-dac's in-built headphone amp?

I'm in a similar position but am getting the M-dac, if it's good enough then I won't bother getting a dedicated on. I've got Grado sr225I's.

The upcoming Beresford DAC with headphone input might work for you as well.

The Carot One is also quite cool:

Yes, it's very very good. I use Beyerdynamic T1's with my 8200CDQ and it is quite superb.

I also auditioned the £800 Beyerdynamic A1 and could tell no difference between it and the CDQ.

The M-DAC is heavily derived from the CDQ but allegedly better still.

Hi Joe

See my post http://www.theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=14973

You can occasionally find these as fully built units on eBay and Audiogon but if you want to get a whole load of personal satisfaction from building your own you will have an awesome audiophile headphone amp for about £250
