View Full Version : Hello from South West England
Hi there to all, hope you're all enjoying your music. I am Trev, I live an unusual life I suppose. I have lived in a motorhome for 6 and a half years now, I have had no joy in getting the pleasure from my music inside my 22 year old Talbot when compared to carting it all down to my girlfriend's house in Cornwall. So set up one is Mission MX1's on mission stands and the laptop and the caiman /DacMagic Plus.
So I invested in a set of Audeze LCD2's to partner my Caiman Gatorized 7520 with my huge 18.4" Medion Blu Ray Laptop.
I live a very sparton life, so what precious space there is is taken up with precious things.
And I bought a DacMagic Plus last week; and, of course, hav been comparing the attributes of both
I listen to mostly rock and pop music and have ripped most of my cds through to Itunes and sorted out ASIO and the DacMagic driver to get it bit perfect.
Have enjoyed reading all of the posts and am sure there is a lot more out there to wade through

Hi Trev, a warm welcome to AoS :) I should imagine that if you happen to be in your motorhome that warm is what you'd like to be in all honesty ;)
It may well be kind of difficult to get a decent sound in a motorhome, I'd give it a go though if needs must :eyebrows:
Bests to you & I hope your are at your GFs right now & in the warm, also I hope you enjoy your stay here on the forum

Hi there Trev,
Here's a warm welcome to The Art of Sound from me.
Wow, you have an interesting set of problems to overcome to get a decent sound!
Cheers
Hi Trev - welcome from me too
Hi Trev, welcome to AoS. I'm sure many of us are at least a tiny bit envious of a nomadic lifestyle - well, at least in the summer! ;) But as the Norwegians say, "there's no such thing as bad weather - just inappropriate clothing" - still, hard to use a laptop when you're wearing eight jumpers!
So what are those bit-perfect tunes you like to spin, then? Can't argue with the decision to go File Based - not least the space considerations in your case!
Hope you enjoy the forum, and Happy Christmas to you. :)
Hi there everyone, my main residence is my motorhome, I am currently tucked up quietly in the middle of nowhere getting ready for sleep as it's an early start for me.
As for my musical tastes , I have been into music for so long now and I grew up sneaking into my brother's room when he was out. So he was into everything from Elvis to the sex pistols, although that punk era didn't leave too many gems as far as I see it, although the buzzcocks and pil and the clash have got loads of energy and still sound fresh now.
I saw we will rock you in London last week , so I have been putting a few albums of queen's through their paces using the foobar2000 asio stuff. Never believed it could sound that good. Nirvana unplugged is another one. Hi res wise , I have rumours, a linn selektions, hotel California, what's the story morning glory amongst others.
But that's not to say that my apple lossless stuff isn't fantastic too. Pulstar by vangelis through the audeze's, bittersweet symphony by the verve, biko by peter Gabriel everything at the moment is like hearing it for the first time. Irrespective of the resolution of the file, as long as it's lossless of course
