View Full Version : My System @ Xmas, Whats yours look like?
Here's some pictures of my Hi-Fi at Christmas. :christmas:
Apart from the tree, the main change is the speakers, I use the Tangent RS4's as the 63's are just too big. Also they are a bit of a liability with the grand children.http://theartofsound.net/images/smilies/fighting0025.gif

Anyway lets see what your system looks like at this time of year.
Merry christmas.:christmas::glug::cool::cocktail:
You have RS4's, and they're still working??? Oh you lovely man
Both my systems have been boulderised and I'm getting no satisfaction from either at the moment. Fundamental rethink on the sources is called for and as soon as I'm able, I shall need to let Glenn fettle my preamp as the solid state alternatives I have show where tweaks are needed, but don't do as well elsewhere...

.
Yes I've had them since new, and they still sound good. I normally use them with my Sugden amp in the loft. I must get around to changing the caps the crossover sometime. :)

Really nice looking room there and I love the Shanling CD player. I had the loan of one for a few months (nearly 5 years ago) and I liked how it sounded, quite a bit but at the time I could not afford to buy one.
Happy Christmas to you Philip and have a very peaceful New Year

Hmmm, for me the same as any other time I'm afraid :o
But your room really does look warm and appealing, so thanks for sharing Philip - it even makes me feel a tad Christmassy, which is quite an achievement! ;)

Cheer's Neil
And the same to you.

Nice room Philip and a very nice setup . However I'm afraid SWMBO would
have a flying fit if I sat a pair of large speakers in the middle of the living
room . I suppose I can dream on . Same from me , have a happy and peaceful
Christmas and a happy and prosperous New Year.
Brian.:)
Ah, but they're on trolleys, so they can be wheeled out of the way when not in use :)

I'd prefer if I could do that with the wife Dave . Good idea though . Detrimental
to sound ?

Well that's true, but nowhere to wheel 'em, from the pics. My missus just about accepts my similar sized SP1's, though truth be told I'm sure they would all prefer no speakers!

Mine's would stick them where the sun don't shine , and I don't mean the
cupboard.

Or a Bose Lifestyle system   :spew:
Ha.... Put your foot down and tell her who is boss, weenies!! :ner:
Great looking room, Phillip - a proper room, obviously shared by two people with similar interests, and clearly a mutual respect for each other, which is exactly how a marriage should be! I see WAY too many meek and subservient males on audio forums, seemingly under the thumb from the B.W.F.H....

(as long as they are tucked away in a bedroom and not downstairs.) ;) Only joking, big guy! :)
Haha... Trust me, they'd be downstairs if there was room for them! ;)
The 15XRs, on Atacama stands, do nicely there to provide the tunes, either side of the log fire :)
Marco.
I have 4 pairs of speakers in the lounge at the moment, 1 pair of no-name mini bookshelves, a pair of Tamon bookshelves, some Realistic Optimus T110s (on stands) and the Howards. The wife hasn't complained. Lucky me.
Thanks for the comments guys, here's some pictures of how it looks with the Quad 63's

Got to say Philip if I lived alone I would probably have something like this.
Looks fantastic , and probably sounds just as good.

Sorry for the terrible photos, but the port has got the better of me.
iTunes (mostly 44.1/16bit alas, but a bit of 88.2/24bit) -> RME Fireface 800 -> TC Electronic LevelPilot -> Adam A7s on SoundStyle something or other stands. Back with dad over the christmas break, the acoustics on this flat are far better than in my student house so I'm trying to enjoy it while I can...
Looks a nice sized room to get the best from the system. :)

Is there any other way? :)

It definitely is - the low-end is just right, and extends deep enough for my taste. Fabulously three-dimensional image as well and so fast!
Is there any other way? :)
Luckily haven't finished the bottle yet!
