Belkin Pure AV Socket Outlets

'Scuse my iggerance, but I just got one of these as recommended by a member on here, and the 6 sockets are marked in 3 sections, Audio filter, Video filter, and Digital filter.

Is the wiring or filtration different inside the unit, or can anything be plugged in anywhere?

The filtration is different for each section ;)

I'd suggest you plug any equipment with switch mode power supplies into either the video or digital sections. Any kit with standard mains PSUs into the audio section.

The idea is you prevent the grunge from the SMPS getting to the standard PSUs in the other kit.

Just tried a few familiar tracks.........sounds good.

Could not say 100% it isn't my imagination but I seem to be getting a bit more "sparkle", anyway, these are selling for a fraction of their actual rrp via e bay, and around a quarter of a Tacima, so a no brainer!

Well worth £12 of anyone's cash!

If you plugged your amplifier into it, unplug just that & try it directly into an unfiltered socket from somewhere else ;)

Tried that with the Tac previously, can't remember whether it made no difference, or it sounded slightly worse.......:scratch:

Before I pull the rack out, and unleash the spaghetti behind it to try that, can I just say I really do think this Belkin device has improved the sound of my kit.

I purchased a similar Belkin unit recently and am having the same results Craig.

No placebo effect here , mines' does improve the picture on my Panasonic

plasma tv. I have made a few changes to my hifi system due to

recommendations and advice given by forum users here so can't comment

for sure on improvements to my system . However I am fairly sure that

the Belkin is contributing to the improvements which I am experiencing .

Fantastic value for money in my opinion.

Hi Brian,
I can't attach my AV stuff to the Belkin as it's sited the other side of the fireplace in a different rack, but I will be stuffing in the Tac over there soon ( as soon as I finish my chores set by 'er indoors!)

Truth is I am happy enough with that side of things, so if there is an improvement, that will be a bonus!

Just listening to "Cafe do Brasil" through the Touch, and it definitely does seem to have the edge over how it all sounded with the Tac........

Also give it time to burn in a bit :eyebrows: There are still capacitors in there involved in the filtering, while some people reckon inductors need time to bed in as well & there will be a few of those to ;)

Im sure I noticed a continual improvement over a few weeks when using the PF40s & these are not too much different, just not a fancy racking case is all at the end of the day :)

Agreed Mark . Failure to burn in / allow to settle any piece of A/V equipment

can turn into an expensive mistake . Burning in my recently acquired :eyebrows:

v-link at the moment . Sounding good straight out of the box though. Hope

the OPPO is providing you with plenty of surprises as it settles in.

Yep, this recently purchased Oppo just keeps getting better & better :)

I find that with AV kit it's the video side that generally appears to make the biggest improvements over the same time period. Heck of a lot more complex circuitry involved though which may go some way to explaining things...

At the moment though it's spinning a multichannel DTS CD that has blown my mind & is getting a second listen because of this :eyebrows:

I just love it when you buy something & you are impressed & then find things actually improve with a bit of age...

No in all seriousness I'm pleased that whatever it was has worked for you to ;) Just remember though that we all have different systems, mains interference, room dimensions & god knows what else :eek:

It really is a surprise when the same strokes works for different folks, though the more basic things such as these mains filters certainly should. Though if you happen to live somewhere away from industry & lots of computer or SMPS users the differences may not be so big, so are more difficult to define.

Pleased you are happy & getting more enjoyment from your kit is all I can say Brian :)

It's the members that make this place at the end of the day, the staff just try to keep control :lol: You wouldn't stick around if you were getting bum advice so all is good :cool:

Yes, the whole membership appear to be very willing to share their experiences & the whole forum gains from this.
