Both the amps are fully restored. All Russian Military PIO caps, carbon film resistors and mixture of Mullard and Russian Military Valves. Each stereo pair is wired to run as a balanced mono, a very simple mod just requiring two link wires on the tag board.

I am very very happy with them :)

Lovely stuff Val & I'm more solid state than valve :eyebrows:

Great pictures, I just love the way that stuff has been put together! All done by hand & by a human being... No Machines involved, just the way it should be ;)

All looks to be in superb condition to!

It'd be nice if transistors glowed, there is something about that colour temperature & glowing stuff :) Warm fires & warmth in winter :eyebrows:

Solid state just doesn't & never will have that...

Thanks all, I think they are quite special too :)

I have an AR turntable and Croft Basic too, but I love the ease of itunes/aiport express/caiman.

I have to say that the sound is really quite exceptional. I can find nothing to better a passive modded caiman to feed the Leaks. It even beats the Croft! I really want to get my hands on a Bushmaster, the board is an ideal size to build into a passive pre with croft riaa section. I have the box and most parts waiting, hurry up and release it Stan :)

I did all the restoration work myself. All resistors are Takman or Kiwame with all Russian PIO's, JJ lytics and decent quality RCA,s and Speaker Posts. The chassis were in good condition but each one was stripped to component form for cleaning.

The mono mod is just two short jumper wires that are soldered to the tag board so can be removed in seconds. Running as a pair really opened up the soundstage and extended the bass.

They are very simple to work on, but prices are rocketing at the moment :(

Great to see you got yourself sorted with a Caiman Val :)

Those Leaks look in gorgeous condition and must sound wonderful.

Hi Val,

So one Leak 20 just not enough eh  !

Seriously, marvellous stuff, I have (just the !) one myself but would love to try a a pair as you have. Not ruled it out for the future. I appreciate what you say about increasing prices for these but I still think these amps. are a snip in terms of good old vfm.

Anyway, lovely.

I had a ST 20 as my main amp for Years, Great Music maker and very reliable,
If the Radford wasn't about I would still be using it, Great Amp;)
