Wanted: Pink Triangle digital filter modules for Dacapo DAC

I'm particularly looking for the HDCD and 22-bit filters but I will consider any others apart from the 24-bit one as I already have that.

The filters that were available are: 18-bit, 20-bit, 22-bit, 24-bit, 1307 and HDCD.

hi there,

i don't have any spare filters anymore, but i do still own a da capo that has had extensive modifications and has the 24 bit filter installed.

over the years i have heard the 22 bit and i also owned the hdcd filter and i wish to tell you that i think you already have the best one.

despite what has been said, about the hdcd filter in particular, the 24 bit is the best by a country mile. it outperforms the others in every single way.

Thanks Frank. I've read a few different opinions about which filter is best. What would you say is the difference between the 24bit and the HDCD module?

Also, I'd be interested to read more about what mods have been done to your Dacapo. Do you have any details that you could send me?

hello again,

i spent quite some time trying to get my hands on the hdcd filter after hearing one at someone else's house and being impressed with the 'fuller' sound.

however, extensive comparisons showed that, whilst having a fuller and possibly slightly deeper bass and a smoother presentation, it lacked the 'spark' or 'musicality' of the 24-bit filter being slightly more relaxed and flat in presentation and far less engaging and open sounding. whilst these things are subjective and to some extent a matter of personal taste, most if not all others that heard the 2 were in agreement that the 24-bit was a far livelier, engaging, open, 3 dimensional and realistic listen.

with regards to the mods: in short, it basically boils down to a clean up of the boards and replacement of all the caps with far superior alternatives. i presume you are aware that these dacs had an issue with the original caps being from a dodgy batch and leaking? if you want more details i will send you them along with some pics, just pm me.

are you planning to use the dac in your main system? mine has been relegated to a second system for now.
