View Full Version : HELP! - SME V Mounting protractor NEEDED

GUYS!

My nephew (aged 14 months) has managed to completely mangle my mounting protractor for my V :doh: I've just bought the 5mm version of the Acromat for my 1210 and decided I'd spend this afternoon trying to optimise the V's position etc, this is now not going to happen :( Can anyone send my a photocopy or send me in the right direction so I can download a PDF. I've already tried Vinyl Engine and couldn't find one.

I need the protractor that came with the tonearm, I dont need to check cartridge alignment, it's the VTA and HTA that I need to check. The SME protractor has a small gauge on the side to check against the side of the V tonearm to make sure everything is vertical, usually the tonearm is supposed to be 3mm above the surface of the vinyl. Hope this makes things clear.

I'll get a picture done on the office scanner tomorrow.
Wonder what SME want for one? Ask if gold lettering is an option.

The only thing I could find on VE is the owner's manual.

The gauge is basically just a ruler you can use to measure the height of the arm above the record.

The twin lines along the arm tube are obviously horizontal when the height from record surface to the gap between these lines is the same at the headshell end and the bearing end. I find easiest to do this when the cartridge is positioned close to the innermost grooves.

Any ruler would do though, just get the heights the same to have the arm tube parallel.

well you just have to love SME ordered my stuff yesterday afternoon arrived this morning recorded delivery! WOW, the V is not quite singing like it was but its not far off! Will keep you lot posted!
