View Full Version : Bristol Hi Fi Show
Just spoke with one of the organizers from Audio T, very nice chap, turns out his brother bought one my of squeezebox power supply's last week! Glad he is pleased with it as I am taking a stand at the show.
Who is going please so I know how many freebies to take for you all?
Thanks.

Depends what is free:)
At the moment it's the air you breathe, watch out though as I reckon it'll be taxed soon :eyebrows:

I should be in residence all weekend as per usual.
For those who are not into mainstream hi-fi and value the joys of quality glowing bottles and music reproduced to the highest standard on black plastic, what is there to see? :)
Marco.
It's not really that kind of show.
Indeed, Mark. I was just wondering if the exhibitors list had been produced yet, so I could look at it and see if there was anyone there (apart from 'our David' :eyebrows:) worth making the journey there for........

Worth the ticket price on it's own methinks :eyebrows:

Well, there weren't loads of turntables and valve amps the last time I attended the Bristol show - and that list of exhibitors doesn't lead to expect much difference this year (obviously there will be a couple). It is a good show though and well attended - I would attend, but it's just rather a long way to go for a day trip (parking in the adjoining multi-story is bloody expensive too).

As one of the original organizers of this show from the 80's and early 90's, I am surprised to see that Linn are not listed. I would never classify myself as their biggest fan (too many talks with the Reps then kind of put a slant on things), but am surprised.
From a marketing point, they were always there. Even the TV ads I had made featured an LP12, Ittok and Troika. Even Ivor attended. (Still got the Troika)
Maybe it's not that sort of show anymore? Was before AV really took off.
Bet the bar takings aren't what they used to be either. One night saw £6800+ back in the '80's on bar bills for exhibitors alone in one evening! A lot of hooch 25 years ago.
Hard work but great fun!
I went last year and, apart from the usual good vinyl stalls, I found it quite disappointing. Not sure yet if I'm going to go or not.

I missed it last time so I suppose I'd better go this time as I'm a local :)

There is a park'n'ride ;)
Better still, come by train.
Hmm...perhaps, but I would rather just drive there and then not have to mortgage a kidney to park.

Do you get the choice of it being a blonde, brunette or redhead? :eyebrows:
Marco.
Its bristol so youll probably end up riding some kind of bald hippo :p

Wow - Saturday nights in Bristol must be a whole heap of fun! :eyebrows:
Marco.
You guys couldn't go anyway. They try not to let the Welsh into Bristol.
What do you think that river is for? :lolsign:
Hehehe.... Well, since I'm not Welsh, I should manage to keep my frillies dry!
What do they do with (Scottish) Italians?
Marco.
I’m not from Bristol but I do find the antagonism between the Bristoleans and the Welsh quite amusing.
I don’t know Marco. The Bristoleans don’t like anything foreign so you may have problems. :eyebrows:
You would be okay where I live, mostly East European, North African and Asian.
It’s easy to spot the real locals because they carry a dictionary and wear those nylon track suit thingies and caps.
I'm just another feckin Londoner apparently :lolsign:

You know what Butuz said about "riding some kind of bald hippo"? In your case, the bald hippos will ride you. You'll love it! ;)

So am I. So how come whenever I go abroad I'm asked about Manchester United or the Queen? Jeez, football or the royal family, which do I least want to talk about? :spew:
