I love those Techy late 80's, 18 Bit conversion: 'SL-P990' machines.. i have a simular Technics 'SL-P770' with external DAC, it sounds pretty good although i don't use it..

Fun stuff Sam! Is there a web-site that covers modding x-overs that you'd recommend or did you just "play"?

Best,
Barry

Hi Andre, yes ive been a 80s fan for sometime. P770 also uses the burr-brown PCM56 i think. I was thinking of getting a P770 or P350 as a spare since they use the same laser mechanism the the P990, and the P1000 :( can never get it if on ebay goes for to much

Hi Barry,
Not sure about websites, but to help with my capacitor choice i read reviews on http://www.humblehomemadehifi.com/Cap.html
As for modding, i just changed the caps there were on the speaker crossover, example the Jensens
10uF 100V, 27UF 100v and 33uF 100v capacitors ( i changed these with flim caps - Jantzen Cross Caps ( 10uF, 27uF and 33uF400V)
Resistors, i changed them with the same value on the x-over board with Jantzen Mox and i tried a brand called Kiwame.

cheers
Sam
