Folks,

On a few records I get record noise out of one channel only. Obviously this must be some sort of cartridge alignment issue, but everything seems to check fine.

Any ideas would be welcome.

And thanks

Hi. This could be a number of issues, but first I would check the diamond tip azimuth. If this is out by a small amount you will hear exactly as you described. If it is ok, check cartridge alignment, tracking force, bias and arm height.
Could also be the fact that those few records are damaged.

You can also check that your stylus tip is clean. Clean it gently with a cartridge brush or a carbon fibre one. The records might need a clean, so if you have a way to do that it can help. You should also verify that the turntable is level.

I will check everything mentioned in both posts....so it is probably NOT the anti-skate setting?

Yes, it could be - bias (as mentioned by Dominic) is another term for anti-skating.

Some records are noisier on one channel though.
