Hello from Lancashire

Hi all - Im Alf

Been on here a while - so about time I said hi to every one. Hope someone drops by and says hi back too.

I have a Garrard 401 awaiting full service and assembly and cant wait to hear it - this will be replacing a fully loaded Gyro/Orbe rig. My current Tonearm is a SME V, cart Koetsu Onyx, Koetsu Rosewood signature and Audio Technica ART 1 and a broken Kiseki Ruby Agate (waiting to be restored). I use valve amps designed and made by my good friend and hifi critic Haden Boardman and speakers are Proac 2.5. Valves have really changed my view on hifi - as I used to think the hiss and hum of valves were the worst thing ever invented - How wrong I was!!

CD player Marantz CD12 and CD16 - good but not as good as my vinyl set up.

Musical tastes - mixed but predominantly Prog rock from around the world - you name it I probably know have it or know someone who does ha ha. Recently discovered Dead Can Dance - and have been blown away with their music - hope to see them when they tour in 2012.

A Garrard 401? I've heard they're pretty good, but I'm not sure your intended arm and cartridge would be up to the job, to be honest... :eyebrows: ;) Seriously - wow - I think you'll be blown away. :)

Hi Alf, welcome to AOS, some good people on here, enjoy.
I was introduced to valves after a trip down to Bolton to see Mr Boardman :) very knowledgeable gentleman and makes a good cup of tea too. No going back to ss I'm afraid.
