Hi everyone.
I'm relatively new to hifi. I only started putting a system together in the last 12 months.
As you can tell from my monika, I made the mistake of buying my first vintage record deck. Since then things have gone totally awry and I seem to be suffering from 'collectavitus'. Hopefully with your help I can break this addiction and once again return to normality.
In the meantime I currently use a Garrard 401 with an SME tonearm and a DL103 in an Ortofon SPU headshell. My amp is a 'What HIFI' best buy - Yamaha A-S500 - it seems to do everything I need. I've just sold my Focal Cobalt 816S and replaced them with a pair of B&W CDM1 SE on Parkington Dreadnought stands. Overall, to my ears, it all sounds pretty good.
I am a member of other forums but I thought I would join and say g'day.

Hi David,

Welcome to AOS.

Nice to have another fairly local member to swap ideas with, nice setup, I use a 401 myself, plus I have various other decks, your user name is ninedecks, do you have other decks that you use?

Great bunch on this forum, hope you enjoy your stay.

Hi David, a warm welcome to AoS from myself as well :)

Collectivitis strikes the best of us I'm afraid :eyebrows: There is always that second system to be catered for as well as spare equipment if the worst should happen :D

Hell, I need to clear loads out to at the end of the day

I hope you enjoy your stay here, bests to you!

Hi David, and a big welcome to AoS from me too.

Hopefully with your help I can break this addiction and once again return to normality.

Um - did you read any of this forum before you joined - and assuming you did, you really think we're going to persuade you to part with your hifi! ;)

Seriously, you're amongst friends here - we're all a lost cause, so don't fight it dude! ;)

Hope you enjoy the forum. :)

You'll be wanting to talk with our Jerry, who is a box swapper extraordinaire. Meanwhile, welcome to AoS :)

Warm Welcome David,
Sorry, but once the bug bites it's all over - you may take a respite, but you'll be back.

Best,
Barry

It's a sad life that I now lead, I can be found lurking in the dark recesses of charity shops, mumbling to myself as I rummage through the boxes of vinyl.
