MP3 to CD?

Hi, I have a few MP3 files that I'd like to get onto CD format so I can spin them on my hifi without having to connect up to my laptop ;)

Please help a prat that has no idea how :eyebrows:

As far as i know I need to convert them to WAV (whatever the hell that is) & then I may be able to burn to a CD, but I'm not sure :mental:

Another thing is that each "album" is seperate MP3 files, how do I go about joining the tracks but leaving markers/gaps etc as per a standard CD?

God I'm thick when it comes to this stuff :lol:


By the way, before you say to me buy the CD these files are only available as files, they were never realesed on CD (http://www.discogs.com/Gate-Zero-Green-Planet/release/1344257) :rolleyes:

Hi Mark there's loads of ways to do it, but for simplicity and cost try winamp (free download), add the files to the catalogue, highlight them, right mouse click, and send to...CD burner.

It will then automatically 'prepare them' as wav then burn them to disk.

It's also a very good file music player...when set up correctly. :cool:

Yes I'm listening via Winamp now, used it for years ;) This could be easy then...

I have the files in Winamp playlist...

Hmmm, I'll have a fiddle about when I finish spinning these, no, streaming them :lol:

A friend of mine got hold of a few files (MP3) ages ago & converted them & stuffed then on CDs for me, so I know it's possible Andr'e :)

Ok guys, there's no need for all this kerfuffle and confusion, WMP can also do this for you and very well too. First off open WMP, then highlight the files you want to put on your album and drag them into WMP's playlist area (to the righthand side of the main window). Left click the individual files and drag 'em where you want 'em in the playlist. In the menu at the top of WMP is a 'Burn' button. Hit it and be amazed!!! Oh, don't forget to put a blank CDR in yer drive first.

If they are chillout dance tracks, which knowing Mark they probably are, there is even a selection in the 'settings' menu to cut out gaps between tracks so they run on from each other. As long as the tracks are tagged, WMP will automatically name 'em for you, also WMP converts MP3's to WAV before it burns the files to disk. Another thing Mark, if the tracks are not from the same album some may be louder than others. WMP can 'normalize' the volume level of each track to avoid you having to reach frantically for the volume control during playback. Hi Mark, If you have problems with winamp you might be able to use windows media player, but winamp is one of the better ones to use.

Have a look at this link, I know someone who has used the free trial before and it had worked for them.

Crikey, I used to burn MP3's onto CD all the time for my previous car. In the one I have now t'is even easier, I just lob a selection of albums onto a USB memory stick and plug it in the dash. It even supports Windows Lossless although not FLAC :eyebrows:

Check options/preferences/output 'Nullsoft Disk Writer' should be there, you can configure the resolution of PCM you want (16/44.1) in this case...if not

You'll need to install the winamp CD burner option too Mark, it's also free...try re-installing it, and check the box for winamp to be your CD player, WMP is a pain and is obviously your default CD player ;)

I assume you're using Windoze. There are loads of programs which will burn CDs from mp3s. I have done this successfully in the past from Winamp, WMP and even RealPlayer. There should be no need to pay any dosh to anyone for this. Of course there might be some issues if the mp3s use non-standard sampling frequencies or more than 16 bits with some software, though I think most will cope OK.

I believe that Nero and other similar CD writing tools can also do this task if you happen to have copies lying around.

CDBurnerXP should also do the job - http://cdburnerxp.se/ and is a useful tool to have anyway. [Sorry, didn't notice that Chris already mentioned this one - Seconded!]
