Music ..It's all abaout emotion! Maybe this song means a lot in a past bad experience in a relationship or what i'm drinkng i dunno!. all the same it makes me cry. All the same i have a heart .

It's OK, there there. Music is an intensely emotional experience. I never cry sadly, but certain rhythmic, melodic, and harmonic juxtapositions simply rip me to shreds. Silence well placed can tear me up. I can be alone or in a crowd and cannot contain myself. I've been onstage and had to turn away from the audience to shroud the fact that I'm reacting to the sound. My handle on other sites (the space here that says Senior Member) usually says Music Lifer And Lover. That says it all for me.
I love music that effects me at a emotional level

She was a staple on AM radio when I was a child growing up and I wasn't even a teenager when she passed. When I found out how and why she passed, it was so gut-wrenching and sad for me. I really like this song; but, it's near impossible for me to listen to it without becoming a basket case, especially when she sings "...so much of life ahead..." ...knowing she passed away at that relatively young age. It would have been different if she was a drug addled or boozing rocker; but, she was "just" a great musician with an angelic voice. :wah: Dammit, I'm tearing up now. I hate threads like this. :(

I understand where you're going with this Andre.
Though I don't actually particularly like the song myself, it means a lot to me because of the lyrics & the person who they remind me of - it was their favourite song & it kind of came true:

Hi Mark YN, did you ever see Anthony and the Johnson live on TV? I think it may have been on sky or it could have been on BBC2. I can't remember but they were absolutly brilliant. That song he sung I think it was called hope there is someone out their for me? He sung it so beutifully it brought a tear to my eye.

Yes, it's called 'Hope there's someone' - it's a fantastic album, not a bad track on it.

This is one of the saddest and most wonderful pieces of music I know from this period. It is a masterpiece of English church music, and describes the reaction of King David on hearing that his son, Absalom, had been killed in battle. The text is:
"When David heard that Absalom was slain, he went up to his chamber and wept. And thus he said:
Oh, my son! Absalom my son. Would God I had died for you."

The words "Oh, my son! Absalom my son. Would God I had died for you." always reduces me to tears. My son lives. Thank God.

No it wasn't the Jools Holland thing, this was sometime ago and I think it was on Skyarts. the thing is I recorded it off sky and then for some reason because the box was full it deleted the programme. The programme I am talking about was dedicated to Anthony himself and various live performances. He was bloody brilliant. If it is ever on again, I will let you know. I will have a look on the net. But he is a very nice guy but very very eccentric. He has the most unusual voice I have ever heard, but that song is so beautiful.

He does have a very unusual voice, always on the edge of pitch - delicate.
I borrowed a phonostage by a well know manufacturer that just made him sound like a bloke with a warbly voice who can't sing - a very pronounced effect in fact.

That's a shame really because he sounded wonderful on TV and it was sometime ago because his hair was a lot shorter that in the clip. It was around the time when he was just getting started. You can ask for programmes from sky to be repeated and they may repeat them, as you are on Virgin then I'm sure they should have it on their on demand, but I will do my best.

There's no much contemporary music that makes me cry, certainly not by association with times past - however, there are some symphonies that always make the hairs stand up and send shivers down my spine, the adagio in Mahler 9 especially.
However, quite recently Shelby Lynne managed to make me well up with emotion, I love that woman.
