Hello to all of you in Art of Sound land.
My name is Marcus, I am over on the Emerald Isle in County Cork.
I have a bit of a mix and match when it comes to hi-fi:

Townshend Avalon for vinyl
Naim CDS2
Michell Orca
Michell Alecto monoblocks
Heybrook Sextet speakers

I listen to pretty much everything - from Bonzo Dog to Egg, from Slipknot to Emil Bulls, from Coltrane to Kinch, from Kraftwerk to DAF and beyond, with a special nod to VDGG for inspirational journeys in sound.

I also run a bit, restore old british bikes a bit and play the guitar badly.

I don't know about hi-fi, but I remember spending a packet on vinyl in Vibes 'n Scribes..........actually several packets!

John / Grand Wazoo - Macroom is a lovely area and there's a big Country park up there near Millstreet for walking /hiking at the weekends.

Nathan, yes, I know Bandon very well and have relatives in Butlerstown/Courtmac so I'm often passing through. I was there for a music weekend in the summer with bands in the square and the Innishannon rally (they were both the same weekend).

Tom, no, there isn't much in the way of hi-fi in Cork, there are a couple of high end dealers in Dublin who look very good but I haven't visited. I'm a UK ex-pat myself and brought all my gear over with me when I moved a few years ago.

However, there's lots of music - the Jazz festival was on here two weeks ago, and the whole town comes to life for the bank holiday weekend. Not only do the pubs have live music, the hotels also - and I spend my lunchtimes during the fest in the Metropole hotel moving between rooms to get different flavours of jazz. Oh, and of course it's sponsored by Guinness!! :cool:

I'm currently building a new system (speakers and amps) and possibly selling some hi-fi in the process, I'll update when I have my new equipment set up.

As it happens, very regrettably the Orca and the Alectos are for sale (not advertised here - yet), but at the moment I would like to sell them together (and they sound so good together). I am hoping to use the money from the sale to fund a new pre-amp.

I know Cork very well, I've family living in Blarney, I've been there many times, I love Cork and the surrounding area.

Mitchell Alecto's, ahh lovely power amps! I heard a pair yonks ago at a hi-fi show at Stormont Hotel (Belfast) around the early 90's driving a pair of Magneplanners, wonderful sound!
