All sounds really good, i couldn't be more pleased with the whole setup - love it!!.

Very tidy system there, Raj. However, I nearly cricked my neck looking at your shots :)

Does the Techie have enough isolation on that cabinet? I would say you need a set of Isonoe feet.

Did the 'fashion' shots at angles because i couldn't get the whole system in with it square on. Plus they're not composed shots, just flash photos from a night in listening.

The cabinet is an Ikea job. It comes with M8 steel threads in the base. I had some Apollo floor spikes lying around which now support it. Also the amp is on a glass shelf which is on smaller M6 spikes, may do the same for the TT too - if i decide to keep it.

But it's a PASSIVE ATC system :scratch: :) You'll need around a kilowatt per channel to make up for the crossover losses :lol:

Hello Dave, Not such a problem when you have such a cracking amp... :)

The Perreaux 150i has masses of current and wattage to give the ATC a hard time, Usually it's the other way around with passives.... but not with this: http://www.perreaux.com/products/eloquence/150i_-_150w_stereo_integrated_amplifier/features.cfm

It’s a Class A design with no caps in the audio signal path, has MOSFET A/B in its output stage and 190 watts before it even starts to clip. The amps actually quite capable of driving passive 50’s without breaking a sweat. It has a massive power supply.........

Love the SCM-20SL’s in comparison to the SP1/2R’s, They’ve got a much more explicit and vivid sound to them, and surprisingly, more bottom end too.

System's now complete, well except the TT end of things :)

Hi Raj, nice to see a pair of SCM20SL in good condition for once :) The single one I have has certainly seen better days enclosure wise, but it works fine & is ok for a centre speaker ;) Apparently the other SCM20SL that was wed to this one from new took a bit of a tumble out of an upper storey window :eek:


Some people just don't look after their equipment unfortunately :mental:

I guess I shouldn't complain as as soon as saw it all lonesome the thought of a decent centre speaker sprang to mind, when it was suggested in the hifi shop that I could look after it for £60 my decision was made quite quickly :) They even delivered it for nothing... Pity Hifi Consultants is no longer in Peterborough :(

Well they're brand new! Got them 8 days ago. ATC took 3 weeks building them. Got about 90-100 hours on them so far and they're really starting to open up now... They claim it take 300+ hours for them to start loosening up properly. So a month or so and they'll be about right IMO.

Infact the whole system is brand new bar the speaker stands and the TT. Which i intend to address on both accounts. Stands first though... May buy a (new) Clearaudio Concept deck one day...

LOL - Space is the name! :) It reminds me of my very first CDP, a Meridian MCD

Also as it has 2TB storage I may file eveything as .WAV
Will look real nice sitting above the Perreaux 150i - thats my system finished at last, and all bought new! Well one very last touch will be to design some speaker stands and have them CNC'ed....

I have one of those and you will need a 24bit 192 capable DAC to get the best out of it. The analogue outputs are a tad underwhelming sonically, even with HD. The unit only uses bog standard components. It will respond to a nice mains cable and a bit of isolation under it.

You will also need to switch to Firefox as a browser as the free management software Olive use will only work with Firefox. No idea why they picked Firefox but they did. Oh yes Olive recommend keeping backups on a separate HD too....probably wise.

Audiocom were talking about offering upgrades for the Olive awhile back. I wonder what an Audiocom modded one would be like.....?

My Perreaux amp has the optional DAC module and does have excellent 24/192 which is also transformer coupled.

Have you tried WAV 'v' FLAC with yours? did they both tag well?

I always do a USB backup when i add a few albums.
