Technics SL1200 MK2/ SME V/ Nagaoka mp110

Morning all, l want to put my SME V on my second Techy, l have a Nag MP110 to put on it- are the SME V and Nag MP110 compatible, l understand that the Nag is a budget cartridge but if they can work together would this give a rough idea of what to expect, if l upgrade the cartridge at a later date, thanks for any input:)

Audiotechnica, Lyra (helikon), and Ortofon carts (Rohman) or above will work very very nicely with your V on your 1210. Check my signature out, I use a V + audiotechnica and am happy with sonics so far :eyebrows: You may also want to match the cartridge to the tech specs of your phonostage. I learned a lot this week about this subject. Have a look in the analouge art you'll find my thread with regards phonostages. :cool:

l do not want to spend any more wonga than l have to at the moment regarding cartridges, just if the Nag MP11O would work on the V.

Flimsy, they dont isolate the tonearm enough and I think they are extremely overpriced for what they are.

In fairness though, a piece of copper with a few holes in it is I feel also slightly overpriced.

The Sound HiFi board gives you a bit more vta adjustment that Mike's wont allow; as the Sound HiFi one is lower being a two part design. However if you have one of Mike's platters then his arm board is more than fine for the job just as I said I personally feel it is a bit too dear for what it is.

Which ones are you talking about? The early silver ones (they were pants) or the black ones Dave had made in Germany?

If it's the latter, that's what I use, and they're far from pants or flimsy - in fact, they do a very good job!

That's not to say though that Mike's aren't even better... I wouldn't know, however, as I haven't done the comparison :)

Yes it will work okay. As for sound quality, well of course won't be the best, but should be reasonable.

VTA shouldn't be a problem with a V. Yep the tonearm board was expensive, I dont have any regrets but I choose copper for various reasons.

Yep, twas one of the early ones. As I have always said, you cant fault DC in some repects as he pushed forward the 1210. I still use a timestep HE power supply (to be replaced in December with a OL7XL :eyebrows:) but i now think that DC's products have been bettered.
