Hi , my name is Brian and I come from Glasgow . I've been into hifi for many years now ,starting with turntables , then moving to CD players , and I am now involved in the early development of a computer based system . My system at present consists of a Dell laptop , A Beresford Caiman SEG , an NVA AP20 amp and a pair of Dali Zensor speakers. Music tastes are very wide consisting of a collection including Eagles to some classical CDs. Cables are silver mains cables , QED USB cable , Mark Grant G15000DD interconnects and NVA LS3 speaker cables. I will post some pics of my simple system when time allows.

Thanks guys , I've been thinking about a Squeezebox Ali , don't know much about them though. I guess if I stay on this forum I may be 'enlightened '.I've certainly learned lots since I began reading the posts here. This is an excellent forum for learning about all things hifi and I hope I can make a valuable contribution .

Brian, the Touch is great value for money IMHO. Sounds very good on it's own, and can be even better with a good dac. Will work with a hard drive directly connected too, so no need to have a computer on all the time, once you've ripped the cd's of course.

Thanks for the welcome guys . Since I started to read this forun I've picked up so much information regarding all the newer options for music replay and I've been taken aback by how good computer audio can be when a quality DAC is used . This has re-ignited my interest and I'm rediscovering my music collection . There are now various routes which I can explore , including the Squeezebox option . However I've learned through experience to' look before I leap ' , especially in the world of hifi . I've made quite a few expensive mistakes in the past . That's where forums like this can provide an education
on what is the best way forward and provide information on what's available.
Helped bt the consumption of large amounts of Irn Bru to help keep my head clear of course. MADE IN SCOTLAND FROM GIRDERS ! ;)

Hi Marco , not exactly Glasgow . A little village by the Luggie Water called Cumbernauld. Born In Glasgow though. Ma preference after a night on the tiles was always a roll and sausage , egg and tattie scone ( all on the one roll of course ) and a couple of large glasses of our other national drink. Don't partake of the bevvy ( I know I Know !! ) any more but still partial to my daily dose of cholestorol. Great forum by the way - look forward to many hours of interesting reading and perhaps some posting.

Aye, I know Cumbernauld... I had friends in Moodiesburn. The egg and tattie scone (with some bacon) turns it into a 'breakfast bun'! Lol.

Are you partial to Scotland's other national dish? No, I don't mean haggis - I'm talking about the 'delights' of deep-fried pizza! :lol:

Small world Marco , I lived in Moodiesburn for 30 years before SWMBO dragged me out to Cumbernauld. AAAH deep fried pizza , that rerr delicacy only found in the ' healthy eating area 'known as the central belt of Scotland . Yes I partook of this in my early days until my body failed an MOT and I was forced to apply some preventative maintenance. Still sneak some in but only as a rare treat now.

Hi David , got to be a Glass bottle mate ,none of this plastic crap. Also got to be just oot the fridge , nae good when its hot. Nothin like a big thick slice of square sausage between 2 slices of plain breed drippin in brown sauce.God gettin hungry now!! LOL.
