I've been lucky enough to have visited many amazing countries in my time but still have a growing list of places I long to go to. So what are your favourites and why?

I think my number one has to be Cuba; the old cars and decaying colonial buildings, the rum. The woman and frankly the people in general, they’ve all got a story to tell. The scenery can be breath taking and you’ve also got those Caribbean beaches.

Second may be a bit of a cliché but for me India is a very special place, I love the buzz of the place yet you never feel in any danger. It great so extreme people watching somewhere like Mumbai and it’s not bad for a Ruby either!

I have traveled a good bit over the years and for me I feel most at home in south east Asia (I lived there for 5 years). The food is beyond compare the weather great and the people are the best I've met anywhere. They are not without their problems but on the whole they are the happiest humans I have met on planet earth.
If I had the funds I'd retire there tomorrow without hesitation. Believe me I've tried.

The worst and shittiest places I've visited or stayed are without a doubt Russia and the UK.

Its not until you travel do you realise how much there is out there.

It all depends on what you are looking for: culture; breathtaking natural features; wildlife, both fauna and flora; meeting people who have a different take on life, etc. etc.

I like to travel for all these reasons and have often found that it is some of the less obvious places that have made a big impression on me.

It's all completely subjective, but I have fond memories of:

Madagascar - for the wildlife and clearly seeing the Milky Way

Laos - for the culture and the people

Burma (Myanmar) - again for the culture and especially the people

Cuba - for the music, the women and where I learnt to like rum

Namibia - for the wildlife and natural features

Mali - for the music

Uzbekistan - for the culture and history

Albania - for the history and the people

Iceland - for the natural features and for the Northern Lights

I could go on, but you get the idea.

Quite fond of West Lancashire myself, will be up in your neck of the woods watching the Seasiders in action on Saturday.

Somewhere I'd love to add to my list but can't see myself doing for some time - Bora Bora, looks absolutely stunning, a real paradise on earth.

For a more down to earth holiday I don't think you can beat Portugal. The old towns are really nice with lots of street entertainers of an evening. Food is better than Spain and its not as commercialised as many other european places(at least the bits I have been to).

2) Drive round the West coasts of Ireland & Scotland ...
3) Ride The Patagonian express ..

Then finish the day watching that Fat Old Sun sink over Grantchester Meadows with a pint of ale ..........
