And the first comment on the piece was:
"Message to James Randi: I understand, we all need a pastime. But aren't there more important things to get your panties in a bunch about than audio cables? Couldn't we find a cause that had a little more impact on our quality of life? "

Must admit that the commentary was amusing though....

James Randi ... well, ummm.

If Stereophile's Mike Fremer is to be believed, Randi refused a perfectly reasonable offer of a cable double blind test.
It was just that Fremer said he wasn't familiar with the Pear Audio cable, but was willing to take the challenge with a cable that he was familiar with.
It seems to me that this still encapsualtes the spirit of the matter - to test whether cables can/cannot subjectively have different audible signatures.
According to Fremer, Randi refused this. Hmmmm ....

The James Randi argument has been boiling over for ages. IMHO he should just shut the F*** up. People are entitled to there own opinion. If someone thinks a cable has specific sonic qualities then it must (to them at least;)). Man, this dude needs to use his time more beneficially.

You mean he WAS a magician, or conjurer or whatever, and now seems to want to spend his time going after those who use similar tactics to rip people off.

so why would anyone one truust him ?

Why not? after all he isn't the one selling anything, in fact he is offering a lot of money to anyone who can prove him wrong, on a level playing field.

I am not sure what you mean here Pete, are you admitting that most cable manufacturers are fraudsters, and that Randi is simply a bit worse? I do not see anything fraudulent about him or his offer. Mr 'guru' fremer tried to change the goalposts by offering to use a cable with wildly differing electrical characteristics that the pear audio one that Randi wanted to use as it was this manufacturer who was making the wild claims for lets face it, is a silly money speaker cable.

It seems to me that these days the offer of $1 million would have people knocking at Randi's door, and yet this does not appear to be the case, I wonder why?
