Well I have been lurking here for a while so I thought it was time to say hello. I'm Ed. My system is Linn and Naim. I spend money on music rather than boxes, though I am fascinated by the technotrickery of it all. I have an open mind wrt the ways and means of enjoying music, I see no point in rigid absolutism.

I have catholic tastes. Everything fron Stockhausen to Amy Winehouse ( an immensely wasted talent if ever there was) In the background as I type is Th Monk chuntering away.

Oh yes, she was wasted alright :eyebrows: Not a fan, but it takes allsorts & there is no musical prejudice on this site. we all enjoy what we enjoy & obviously the hifi is a means to an end ;)

And Jazzpiano... chuntering... apart from the top shelf explanations you might have read elsewhere, it's the kind of mumbling noise old guys make when they're in their element.

It's a quaint old English expression. Heaven knows what passes for mumbling in Glasgow!

Yes, i always thought it was mumbling/muttering as well :eyebrows: Looks like the dialect is getting split up from up north... Glasgow area looks particularly dodgy in this respect!

I need a cigarette, better not say fag incase America invades :eek:

Ha! What have I started! The 'chuntering' I was referring to was the mumbling that Thelonius Monk often did whilst playing. Whether he indulged in the alternative version I prefer not to think about ;)
