Well im finally moving in to my sisters old room as she has left home wooo.
So means i have more space.
I already had the clear stand but saw the black one locally and bought it off ebay.
Its not the best equipment in the world, but it ok for me with my limited budget.
And On the glass shelf one is going my surround sound amp and dvd player. but havnt moved it across yet.

Jive Bunny on the deck! Picked it up from a jumble sale today for 50p the record looks like new and not a single mark on it.

I cant decied if i should switch to bannana plugs for the speaker out, or leave it as it is? Am i going to get any better sound out with bannanas or leave it as it is?

Loving your system, I see that you have some neat looking Kef speakers, these will be superb over the midrange. I notice you've got a dual deck. I nearly bought one of these and am kicking myself that I didnt. I wouldn't worry too much about your equipment rack so long as your enjoying your music. ;)

Thanks :) Yeah the KEFs have a nice sound to them and not to much bass which i like,
The dual isnt bad for what it cost me, but its tempertantle atm, only working when it wants to i stripped it down and thought id solved the problem but i havent,
And iv made a massive spelling mistake in the title by hitting the T instead of R key, and i cant change it, :( can a mod do it for me if possiable?

Thank you for the real-world pics. It gets a little depressing seeing mega-buck systems all the time. It gets so you can't look at a system pics gallery and see a simple music appreciation system anymore. I don't want to imply that your system isn't legit - it is. Love your LS3/5as.
Keep the focus on the music.

I wouldn't worry about the banana plugs, you wouldn't notice any difference, except it would be easier to unplug them!

Wow, I'm looking at your system with wonder because it is almost identical to the system I began with when I became re-engaged in HiFi after an absence of almost twenty years a little while ago (I still use it as my second system incidentally), except I wasn't lucky enough to own such a gorgeous pair of KEF LS3/5a's. I am running some KEF's though, a mint pair of Q35's bought for 40 quid from a local charity shop. We even own the same Sound Organisation racks although yours has an extra shelf ;)
I know from experience that the little Cambridge Audio amps are very musical. My A1 mk3 SE struggles to drive my Q35's to really high levels however it does sound good and is fitted with the optional MM phonostage which is also pretty good, is yours an A5 btw?

I Do want to get another sound organisation rack that matchs and get rid of the other one, but i cant find one for sensiable money atm.
Mine is fitted with the optional phonostage, I think its the C500

dont underestimate this stuff it's liked by a lot of people on AOS, I have some PureAV interconnects driving my Radford's and marantz CD player. It's cheap and very very good. Maplin do some very cheap silver plated high purity speaker cable and interconnects if your interested. Im using all the belkin PureAV cables after reading the thread on here, for what they cost they are amazing, and they look the part.
I bought the flat Pureav cable, But was thinking of getting these, which have now sold out, but the kefs dont have bananna plugs so would need to adapt them which put me off buying them.

I can vouch for the Belkin PureAV Silver interconnects and speaker cables Joe, I run them in my main system and they are superb. You would have to spend significantly more money to better them, and I mean well over 150 quid a set for speaker cables of an equivalent length for example. The Belkin interconnects are better than the Van Den Hul's I used before, although not by an awful lot. Mind you, considering the VDH's were 80+ pounds a set when new this makes the PureAV's remarkable value for money. ;)
Ok Done a bit more, set the Surround sound up and put the tv in its place, havent taken pictures yet.

I can't remember what else is connected across the motor, but we had a couple which ran extremely hot and smelly (a couple of wire-wound resistors in the supply box), but these decks were scrapped I think, before we sorted them properly. On the suspension springs, cut away the little plastic "dampers" which extend inside the springs - this makes it bounce more and I thought it helped with isolation of the deck-plate from the plinth. The tonearm was made for extreme lightness, but 1/2" mount adaptors are available here and there (I have a goodly number of the weights which screw on the back of the counterweight. If you wanted to ever go this far, an OM20 sounded really good in one of these Duals (can't see what cartridge you use).

I had a quick look on ebay at Fisual cables, look good, don't think im going to get some just yet though.
Im trying to work out where i put about the dicky dual? the speed selector its a pain in the ass some time its works other times it won't switch between the speeds which is annoying.
Sound like some good mods to do to i want to change the output cables on it as well to better ones as its still got the standard cables at present, I can't reiember what cartridge its got, i know it needs a new one as the needle is bent! dont know how it happened either.

Thank you, The speakers look good in the pictures but in real life theres some damage to the sides and rear that makes them a bit tatty :scratch:
I was complenting weather to build some new cabients the same as these but not sure if i should or not.

That Dual reminds me of the days I lodging in Bristol and played music loudly every nights still get compliments and intridged at how good vinyl sounded.
They think I had Linn Lp12 you see. God bless them for not complaint and liked my music. I did been good neighbour stop the music at 11:00pm.
They system was Dual 501
Ortofon 510 cartridge
Yamaha (straight no tone control, can't remember the model)
Single driver speaker from those 80s hifi system. I open up about 3mm the front cabinet and it sounded great.
The Dual I add more weight to the counter-weight so I can move it closer to the arm's privot.
Yes Keep that Ls3/5a speaker. I remember listen to them at a record shop and I thought I wouldn't mind have one.
So its turns out my speakers arnt what i thought they where, still sound good to me,
Anyway,
Recently picked up this tape deck, its a sony TC- 161 SD
Only trouble is its in need of a service and a couple new belts, as they seem to have gone saggy and wont play properly,
Does anyone know where i can get a service manual from? and possiably the new belts?

Changed a little bit, now got the tv up and the surround sound set up,
The surround system is a cabridge audio 6.1 surround, even though im only using 5.1
Tannoy front speakers, gale center, theres a yamaha Subwoofer that that it can been seen!, and also some acustic engery rear speakers,
I have also got the akai speakers out and put the speaker stands away, sounds quite good to me

Recently got a few more bits and pieces, should be downsizing not obtaining more haha
Recenty won this off ebay its an samson active monitor with a faulty amp, the ebay listing said an internal fuse had gone, so bid on it won for £17.19, picked it up took the amp out the back and all the wires cut all over the place and no signs of any internal fuses, and its way to complicated for me to fix, im presuming the transformer has knackered.
so ripped that out, going to make a cut out and make the cabient a passive one,

And not the best thing to be driving it is this marantz 75CR2020/2a slim series amp i was given as it has a knackered cd drive :/ and by the looks of it has been painted red haha.
going to be put in the garage soon for the system in there when im working on my car :)

It sure looks like you've been bitten by the audiophile bug!
Not been on here in ages! had a little rearainge with the system, recently got a Sony DVP player so thought id use that instead on the sony cd in the rack as its one less thing to have plugged in and cluttering up!
and the other thing i got some VanDamm Studio grade cables for the speakers from a bootsale for £2!
sold the other stand a while back and packed the tuner and tape deck away as they wernt being used, also got some diffreint speaker stands. Cant think of the make
Need to tidy the cables up as there so long its hard to hide them all.

it is an amp its a realistic MPA-100 nothing speical but looks good, and one bulb has gone on one VU been meaning to open it up and see if it can be fixed or maybe changed for some new leds or something

Ah, I have a Realistic stereo amp in the shed along with a Philips CD Video player & Mordaunt Short Pageant series II
It's not a bad bit of kit, far better than the normal Realistic stuff, your amp looks even better built from what I can see :eyebrows:

The only thing that annoys me about the amp is it hums when switched on, its on my list of things to replace at somepoint when i get some money! but for now it wil do
In my shed i have a Sony amplifier running some RCF speakers and i just plug in my iphone! does what it needs to seem to spend lots more time in the shed after buying this!

Will be better once its on the road, got the whole day to spend under it tomorrow finishing the welding it failed the mot on and the rear brakes to rebuild, ah the joys!
and has changed a bit since that picture that was the day after i got it home two months ago!
So its been a little while since iv been on here, system is still the same pretty much with the addition of a Technics Turntable and the Dual has been put in the pile of other stuff that im not using!
i bought these the other day not sure why as there pretty big! made in 1970 Orange Bouncer horn Cabinets with 15" EV subwoofer, they should be orange originally i believe.
plan is to refurb them and possibly be orange again!
