Evening all,

I've been following the highly informative Beresford mod threads here on AOS for quite a while now so I thought I'd join and share my tuppence (TBC).....

First up, a little introduction:

My name is Ant (Anthony) and I'm located 20 minutes South of the Humber Bridge in North Lincs. I've been playing with Hi-Fi since I was 6 years old and now 26 years later, I still can't resist having a fiddle with the workings. My main system parted company to fund a render farm so now my humble office system is my plaything, comprising of a mildly fettled Marantz CD6003 - Marantz PM7003 - B&W 685's... Oh, and a heavily re-worked Beresford TC-7520.

My taste in music is varied - I pretty much like anything and everything - My only dislikes are two genres.... Classical and depressing/Coldplay (Chris Martin voice = nails/blackboard), I'm partial to a bit of electronica/club whilst enjoying a few or more cold 1664's.

Well - That's me,
Ant

Welcome to AoS Ant! I must admit that I am very much in your camp when it comes to Coldplay. I don't know what it is but they make me want to kind the top storey of the nearest car park, which can't be good!

The Pet Shop Boys version of Viva La Vida is excellent though!

Have a good time here and get stuck in...

You're spot on with Coldplay, but their main crime against art is that so many bands want to copy them, so we have hundreds (well, dozens) of one-chord wailers.

Glad that's off me chest.

Hi Anthony and welcome.

What is a 'render farm'.

Must agree about Coldplay -absolutely awful apart from their first single, which I quite liked. Their latest offering is dire and has me reaching for the off button whenever it comes on the radio..:vomfest:

Many thanks for the warm welcomes guys!

aquapiranha - Thank you for your help.

hifi_dave - A render farm is a cluster of computers built specifically to render computer-generated imagery (CGI).

Here's an example: (mine is far far less impressive)

Used lots of render farms before now including Sun... Todays are a fraction of the foot print as they used to be. Back in the 90's they were far too big, slow and far to expensive for the likes of most us artist budgets. 3DS Max integrated farm management but that wasn't up to the job.

oh.. sorry.. Welcome matey! :)

The Black Adder - Thanks for the welcome.

I use Backburner, it's quite reliable for the most.

Cheers,
Ant
