QUAD 63 spikes/supports

Hi

I have a pair of QUAD 63s which I use with the traditional metal stands. I notice there are holes in the bottom of the stands for spikes or rubber isolators and was wondering if I should buy some...The problem is they have to sit on terracotta tiles, though I do I quite a thick rug in front.. Any opinions if they could improve the sound etc? Thanks!
