This very weekend, Pickering, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, is to hold its annual Railway at War weekend more commonly called War Weekend. This is a weekend when the whole of Pickering is transported back to 1943 and re-enactors take over the whole town to commemorate those lost in war. To illustrate this I have enclosed a shot of a typical war weekend re-enactor. The weekend starts proper this Friday and goes through to Sunday at around 16:00 hours when things start to thin out again. If you fancy seeing some serious 1940’s costumes and some very serious WWII hardware why not take a drive up or down to Pickering this weekend. Maybe I’ll see you here…???
