Hey folks, for anyone who's interested...
The first phases of this project are complete. Breaking the table down to it's components was pretty easy. Working up a crude test plinth was relatively painless as well. Sorting out the electronics was pretty straightforward; however, tedious. There are a total of twelve connections/wires that route to the motor, 2 of which are a shielded single conductor. I was able to find 12-pin male & female molex kits which handle 10 of the control wires. (I wanted to be able to disconnect the motor unit from the control unit without having to remove the platter.) I used a normal male/female RCA connection for the shielded lead. I'm assuming that's the signal from the magnetic read heads in the motor???

The huge copper finned heat sink is such complete overkill for the tiny regulator? (transistor) that is now mounted to it. It's actually a CPU cooler. The IEC jack (not shown, hanging off the back) and the new power switch are from a burnt up PC power supply. Reduce. Reuse. Recycle. :)

A proper mass loaded plinth (as well as a proper box for the electronics) is the next order of business. In testing, I can detect no ill effects from having considerably lengthened the control wires. Any EMI, vibration, etc. from the transformer and electronics should now be a non-issue.

Still much more to do and consider; but, I'm happy with the progress so far. The doubt of "whether it will work or not" has been removed. As it was before, this turntable had a failed suspension and was sitting useless.
So far tonight, I've played Eric Johnson: Ah Via Musicom and The Beatles (white album). Sounds better than stock even in this skeleton...
