Very sad news, I'm playing his first album right now - years ahead of it's time.

His first album is quite exceptional and Marco's pick The Black Swan is amongst his best - in fact those two would be a great place to start, his first and last albums.

Dont over look L.A. turnaround, the mans personal favorite. Once so rare he had to buy his own copy from ebay. Recetly re released on a very nice vinyl.
Sounds like nothing he did before or after.

Cited as an influence by the likes of Neil Young, Paul Simon, Jimmy Page, Jerry Garcia and many others, Jansch’s legacy reaches far beyond the genre of folk music to which he devoted much of his life.

Just listening now to his first album "Bert Jansch" .. it is quite beautiful still .. He conveys a haunting melancholy in his voice and music that reaches very deep ... very few performers can get close to him on such an emotional level .. Sandy Denny comes to mind as being one of them ..

Yes the original film with Edward Woodward and Christopher Lee. It depends what version of the film you have as there are at least 3 versions on DVD with wildly differing run times. If you have the standard version which opens with the plane flying over the islands then the scene is about 20 minutes in.

I have the standard version and I've watched the "Green Man" pub scene from the first third of the movie on slow mo and can't spot Bert anywhere.
I was very fortunate to work with Bert, several times over the past twenty years, and he never mentioned this and nor does his biographer, Colin Harper. I'd love to see one of my favourite guitar players in one of my favourite films, so if you wouldn't mind being specific about his appearance, I'd be grateful. Cheers!
