I received this email from the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, of which I am a member. Please sign up and donate, if you can, there is little time left. Please read the e-mail I received and then go to www.tigertime.info.

"I want to share some exciting and uplifting news with you about our latest and most important wildlife campaign in the history of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation – TigerTime.

Stephen Fry, the much loved and admired TV and literary celebrity has thrown his support behind the campaign. Many of you will know that Stephen has an enormous following across the world and, particularly, across the internet. As a result of him telling his fans about TigerTime we now have supporters and followers all across the world.

TigerTime is crucial. There are thought to be only 3,200 tigers left in the wild. When my father, David was born 80 years ago, there were 100,000.
This is a crisis. We have to act now. Within a few years, the wild tiger population will have passed the ‘point of no return’ and the wild tiger will face extinction. TigerTime aims to build up a worldwide community of people who simply refuse to accept the loss of the wild tiger. To be successful and save the tiger, we need hundreds of thousands of people behind the campaign.

I cannot overstate the value of your existing support for the Foundation. Without it, we could not carry out the vital work that is needed to save our endangered species.

Please, if you have not already done so, would you do the following for us:
Express your support for TigerTime by actually ‘signing up’ at www.tigertime.info . It only takes about 10 seconds and every extra signature increases the power of the campaign. Could we invite you to think of it this way – spreading the word for TigerTime in this way, is the single most powerful thing you can do to save the tiger. It really is vital that we build up the number of TigerTime followers.
Use the ‘tell a friend’ facility on the website to spread word of TigerTime. It is quick and easy to do and will have a dramatic effect on the campaign.

All of us at DSWF thank you from the bottom of our hearts and hope that you will join us in the TigerTime battle.
Very kind regards,

Melanie Shepherd
CEO of The David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation"

Thank you for any help, even if it's just signing the worldwide petition.

Anthony.

I have a young Punjabi girl who works for me and its taken me weeks of badgering to get her to understand the importance of the Tiger and how India should be proud of this beautiful creature. Mind you, it was Empire that killed most of them which makes it all the more important that we donate and save the Tiger.

I suppose it is because the Tiger eats their animal stock that they don't hold it in the same regard as we do in the west.

Having said that, it is the colonials and the 'tiger economies' that have slaughtered the Tiger almost to extinction.

We have to do something, NOW.

Sorry about the soapbox rant. :steam:

Thanks for the information and link. This is very important to act upon since time is running out, and we need to do something now. I signed up, and got myself a tiger watch as well.

More from David Shepherd and Sir Paul McCartney:-

Dear TigerTime Supporter

"The thought of having to explain to my children that there were once tigers - real, wild tigers, out there, in the great forests of the world - but that we let them die out, because we were busy - well, it was bad enough explaining about the Tooth Fairy, and that wasn't even my fault."

We wanted to share the above quote with you. It’s from Simon Evans, Comedian and TigerTime supporter, just one of the stars of the entertainment world to back TigerTime. There was just something lovely about it!

Sir Paul McCartneyWe’ve just so much exciting news to tell you about! TigerTime was launched in May of this year and has already established itself as a major global campaign. Only a few days ago, Sir Paul McCartney threw his support behind the campaign asking all his fans on twitter to sign up and support. The full array of stars now backing us is at www.isupport.tigertime.info

With your help, we are already making a real difference on the ground. As just one example, TigerTime’s parent organisation, the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation, has been able to send money to a new dog unit in Assam, India. The dogs are trained to track down tiger poachers and we are funding the first dog, Jorba and his handler. They will back up vital wildlife crime monitoring in Kaziranga National Park, one of the most important tiger habitats on the planet.

So many of our supporters tell us that they look on supporting TigerTime as their way of ‘being with the people on the ground’. So we have come up with even more ways that people can show their support:

1. There’s now a TigerTime shop at http://www.tigertime.info/shoprequest.html. This is a great way to help save wild tigers. Why not consider buying Christmas presents from the shop, either for yourself or your family? See the TigerTime Watch photo in this email.

2. Donations allow us to do more on the ground. There’s now a new donation page at http://www.davidshepherd.org/help-us/tiger-time/donate/. This now has the facility to offer monthly donations. Even a small sum of money per month helps us plan in the longer term, though of course ‘one off’ donations are welcomed. And dont forget you can also "adopt a tiger" through the Foundation by clicking here

3. Just urging more people to sign up at www.tigertime.info helps spread the word and make our campaign stronger. Why not forward this email to a few friends and ask them to sign up?

The TigerTime online community is now over 15,000 strong and growing. To save the wild tiger we need so many more people to join us. Please spread word of us and ask people to sign up at www.tigertime.info and follow the campaign on Twitter @tigertimenow

Because of you, we are able to make a difference and somewhere a tiger’s chance of survival is improved….. and hopefully, we won’t ever have to explain to a child that the wild tiger is no more…..

Thank You!

Kind regards,

David Shepherd CBE
