Windows live not working

I used to use Outlook express without any problems but since the change to Windows live messenger i cant sens a email without an error flagging up.
When i google the error code i just get loads of sites offering free clean up services which as far as i know are con merchants.
Anyone know whats going on? I an have live conversations on Facebook with no problem and i have downloaded the latest windows explorer for windows 7 but no luck.

Just tried to send one and this time it did not tell me error code.
I think its the 80070057 code.
I think i know the problem. Ive just ead you have to sign into windows live account. If thats the case i have a big problem. I cant remember the user name i used , no matter how many times ive tried. I just cant sign into the dam thing.
Tried to set up a new account but microsoft were having none of it. "This email address is already taken...etc"
