It is no secret that the American Congress members are open to lobbying .... but to this extent !! ....

The legalised system of quasi-bribery known as the American campaign finance system allows millions of dollars to flow from individuals and corporations to support federal candidates. Not a single member of Congress attains a coveted seat without the monetary support of key special interests. Those favours must be repaid – either in helpful legislation, or protection from taxation and other federal interference.
But then here in the UK we have the Tory party being bankrolled by the Bankers and Big Business .. and Labour being paid for through it's cozy relationship with the unions .. How can anyone believe politicians can act in our best interests even if they were willing !
And .. that is not taking into account the number of high ranking government figures who go into very lucrative positions in the private sector after being in office! .... I guess they don't get those jobs by tackling problems which may adversely affect such corporate interests whilst holding office ....... :scratch: ..
