I was once asked by an ex girlfriend - "why do you keep buying records? Don't you have enough yet?"...

Those guys should be ashamed.

This poor chap didn't pay £15,000.00 for that ridiculous power cable did he?

I was loaned a Synergistic Research interconnect with active shielding (the shield connected to the mains via a transformer -blue LED's lit up). You could disconect the active shielding - it made absolutely zero difference either way (except to the LED's).

This quote from Coconut Audio:

Don't confuse them with the kind of quantum-this and diamagnetic-that nonsense paraded all too often paraded as science: these deploy common sense and sound engineering practice for audible results.

They have amazing 'front', there isn't even a remote semblance of science or common sense to this nonsense - absolutely the worst sort of hi-fi foo.

This Coconut thing is described thus:

Both the internal formula and the external crust have been designed to sound like a calm sunset on a paradise beach.

Calm sunset on a paradise beach my ass = it does cost only $500.00 though, which is a veritable bargain compared to their other nonsense.

Unfortunately, it isn't. Item Audio are a real company, in fact I met Mr IA at the Whittlebury show.

I suppose the lesson is that you can convince yourself of practically anything if you take enough pharmaceuticals.

Find a problem (even if it's not in the slightest bit audible), make the punter feel guilty if he (usually a "he") doesn't have the upgrade and then fleece him blind :(

Let's start a high-end cable company, go on Dragon's Den and use that as the opening of the pitch - Duncan will invest!

A little bit of Google time suggests that Mr Coconut Audio is also this chap:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-UhQK0AdWSk

This quote from him:

When I produced the Grounding product I only listened to a single FLAC song 12 hours per day for two months (Blank & Jones - The Hardest Heart). I don't listen to other tracks because I need consistency.

He only ever uses headphones:

This is the evaluation track in question:

Gawd knows how you could ever use that cable. Your components would end up dangling in the air such is the inflexibility of the thing.
