hi guys, today I was adjusting the vta of my technics 1200 mk2 fitted with my new at120e cartridge when accidentally I touched the arm and the Stylus skated on the vinyl for couple of centimeter :steam: is this very bad?? do I have to replace the Stylus??
Sorry if my English is a bit low level
thanks in advance for your help

I absolutely doubt this has damaged your stylus in anyway, these diamonds are pretty tough. The only way you would have damaged the stlyus would be if there was some heavy force pushed down on top of the cartridge / stylus, now that wouldn't be good for the stylus with regard to bending the cantilever etc. If you merely had the stylus skate across the record for a few centimetres (most of us have had that happen) without heavy downforce then all is well ;) If you are still unsure then set up properly as normal (set vta etc) take a look from the side and front of the stylus to see that all looks level and straight and listen to some tunes :)

You should be ok. I have done that a few times whilst under the influence of a fine red.

If it still sound ok then it probably is.
