Guys

I would like to introduce myself. I'm Dave and owner of Sound Hi Fi. I was invited to join by Marco because of our modifications to the Technics SL-1200 that you can see here www.SL-1200-MK2.com do also click on the PSU page to see even more?

I grew up in Cornwall in the 60's and eventually moved to Cambridge, where the streets were paved with Silicon and gained a distinction in Mechanical Engineering. My first work was designing tape recorder heads, mostly for Grundig. After a while, moving jobs I achieved the position of a senior design engineer at Philips in the 80's

I then started my own company in satellite communications consulting to both Inmarsat and BT. My speciality was receiving a 5W satellite transmitter 25,000 miles away on an antenna the size of a paperback. Now that is low noise!!

In time, my specialist skills were overtaken by digital modulation and I attempted to semi-retire in Dartmouth www.Dartmouth.tv although I now do websites and sell Hi Fi that I like.

My experience in low noise satellite communication has helped my quest in Hi Fi where detail, resolution and noise floor are all appropriate. My audio test bench is here www.SoundHiFi.com/test.html

I will be pleased to participate in this forum and may occasionally appear a 'smart arse' . I tell the truth like it is, love music, and often give discounts on products on my web site here www.SoundHiFi.com

Regards

Dave

Welcome You have some really nice sites links and a great system.
I must admit if I was to ever re-think my choices I be tempted to go down a modified SL-1200 but very happy with what I got. Marco really does a great job in spreading the word about the 1210 I try to do the same around the Terminator

Hi Dave,

A very warm welcome to AOS :)

Nice 'biography' there; most interesting and informative. I'm glad our paths have crossed at this stage when interest in the Technics 1210, and modifying it, is growing at an alarming rate.

I'm sure that with your help and technical expertise we can develop this further, make some new discoveries, and really show how special the 1210 is, making AOS in turn THE Internet resource for everything 1210 related and Sound Hi-Fi the source for all relevant equipment and ancillaries.

Here's to some interesting and exciting times ahead!

Marco.

Hi Dave, nice to have you here. It seems that the 1210 is the turntable to have these days.
