Hi
Need some help with my Decca Blue, i have some hum.
I use the mounthing bracket with 4 outputs pins.

They can and do - it's part of the heaven and hell of owning one...

Please can you tell us what deck, arm and phono stage/amp you use, as the signal earthing paths have to be just right.

If the hum is down amongst the surface noise and doesn't change in volume from beginning to end of a disc, then it could just be the "Decca Issue" hum. According to those that know Decca's better than me, one of the very few preamps NOT to "hum" with a Decca is the new Albarry one. I don't know why, just passing on donated info, being a Decca user and all...

my deck is a Nottingham hyperspace with a ACESpacearm.
Croft series 7R/ Croft micro 25RS
The 25RS is with seperat power supply.

This combination does 'hum' slightly but is well below surface noise and therefore, not a problem.

You can try removing one or other of the earth tags on the back of the cartridge but there's not a lot else you can try

Guys,

As Richard is banned, and has no right of reply, I must ask that he is not referred to here in any way, other than when his products are being legitimately discussed.

Sorry Marco, I wasn't being sarcastic on this particular occasion, but simply pointing out that this chap has suggested that his phono stages apparently don't hum with Decca's, although I haven't tried them myself.

By the way, Rega and Grado cartridges can be a bit induced-hum prone as well and the whole "hum" thing can be cummulative - a little bit in each stage summing together at the end..

The nighthawk works really well with the decca no hum issues think due to it being battery powered cracking phono as well you have to pay crazy money to beat it
