Hi All
Several places have said that one problem with the R200 arm is that the anti skate belt perishes and is irreplacable. Mine was in exactly this state. Seeing this as a challenge I have developed a kit to replace the belt and it is now listed on Ebay. It's not perhaps the cheapest but taking into account sourcing the belt from abroad and having a belt tensioner designed and machined and the time this has taken, I see it as a resonable one off purchase if you want to get your arm back to proper running order,
Have a look at the link I'd be interested in your thoughts

A great shame it has to cost so much, but if the R200 itself wasn't expensive to buy in the first place i.e. under a ton, then along with a new exit lead at least, it's a good buy..

I'd go for one in my arm. It's currently in the cupboard but a new spare would be good insurance. :)

Why is a new tensioner required?

I've never seen the innards so I don't know how it functions.

The bias is applied via a knob on the small side extension the R200 has. The knob is connected to the main anti-skating assembly by the toothed belt which goes around the pulley below the control knob and then to the arm.

Thanks Geoff.

I can appreciate how the bias is applied. I was just wondering why a replacement tentioner was included with the belt from the seller I was looking at.

And I wouldn't have thought it would have cost £5 to post. But I imagine it all depends on what you take into account.

The important factor is you cannot buy these belts from a spare supplier, if your belt is snapped & you need one the asking price is irrelevent, the only outlet then becomes a godsend id have thought.

Have you not seen the other rb200 thread - supplier posted there. http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?t=22658&page=6

It would appear the seller was originally selling it for £30. Now the remaining 7 is offerd at £25 each.
