Thought I'd better introduce myself.
Been listening to music for as long as I can remember and first record I bought was Ballroom Blitz by The Sweet. My teenage years were through the punk and new wave era so my musical taste is/was highly influenced by these teenage years but has expanded somewhat since then to include zep, floyd, springsteen amongst others to sit alongside bowie, kraftwerk. joy division etc.
My first music machine was a little cassette recorder that I used to record Top Of The Pops off the tv with. I then moved on to a cassette/radio which let me record from the radio without the need for an external mic and sitting in absolute silence :mental:
My first real hifi was bought in 1983 and consisted of a NAD 3020a, dual 505 and a pair of Omar Wendover speakers. Over the years I've owned many bits and pieces and currently have a Meridian 508 CD, Logitech Touch streamer, Eastern Electric MiniMax DAC fed straight into a Meridian 557 and Impulse H2 speakers. I'm currently going through a 'I need a new amp' phase and have tried several over the past couple of months but I'm still not happy with the sound of my system - it's the best it's been but I just know it can be better. I've even gone as far as lugging all 120kg of my H2's to a dealer about 80 miles away to spend an afternoon listening to various amps and the only one I liked was waaaaaaaaaaay over my budget (a perreaux 150i).
Hopefully I'll find some inspiration here and maybe someone will suggest a gem of an amp for my system.
