DVD as a transport

Hello all,
I´m using a Sony DVD - NS700V as a transport and so far is OK.My other Cambridge has a fault(maybe the lens), so I´m using the Sony. There is any reason that CD players are a better transpot than DVD players?This Sony was not cheap so I guess is a fine transport. Many cd players now use DVD transports or no?

Ive heard higher end Sony DVD players make great transports and also make very fine music in their own regard. Have you compaired the audio output to that of your DAC?

Many people I know have used cheap DVD players as a transport, and if a decent stand alone DAC is used, you will be hard pushed to hear any difference between that combo and a very much more expensive CDP. :)

Am I right in saying that many CD players now use similar transports, or am I confusing DVD with CD-Rom drives?
